Pimpin’ At Fashion Week

Hat—Target
Tie—Men’s Wearhouse

Here I am on my way out the door to go to Fashion Week this past September and what an amazing time I had!!  I always get excited when fashion week rolls around twice a year when it does.

It’s always fun to attend the shows and it definitely always gives me yet another reason to dress up—which I absolutely love to do!

Here I had some fun with accessories I pulled from my closet.  I had no idea how the look would turn out but I made sure to give myself plenty of time to play with different accessories and different ways to wear them—until I finally had a look I was happy with.

None of the accessories here are anything fancy or expensive and can be found and bought pretty much anywhere in your city.  So give it go!

So, if you have nothing else to do today, find a hat, a tie, and/or different accessories you can play around with to wear to the next outing you attend.  Do something a little different from what you normally would with your look and find new ways to spice it up every now and again.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Everyone should always have a go-to pimp-look that can be pulled off at a moment’s notice.  Yes, they will look and stare—but SO WHAT!  There’s a reason they are doing so—IT’S GREAT TO BE YOU!

A Lovely Charity Event

Me

All dolled up and ready to leave for a charity event.  I had never been to a major charity event before this one and always wondered what it was like to attend one.

All the donations for this charity event went to one of the local hospitals for cancer research—always a good cause.

I arrived there early enough to see the stage being set up for music, a lady practicing her aerial stunts, and the tents being set up with tables, chairs and whatnot.

And, oh my.  Food was EVERYWHERE!!!  So many different restaurants had their own little areas where they were giving away samples of their food to all the attendees all night unlimitedly.  I just loved seeing so much food surrounding me.  It was a dream come true—to be surrounded by various types of food and unlimited eating!  Heaven!

Everyone was dressed in their finest attire.  The men were, oh so, very dapper in their suits and ties and the ladies so lovely in their cocktail dresses and 4-inch stilettos.  It was all very high-society, dahling.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, find a local charity event in your hometown and attend it while dressed to the nines in your finest attire.  You’ll have lots of fun and help out a good cause at the same time.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  It’s always nice when you can give your money to attend a fun event while at the same time knowing your money is being put to good use and was well worth the cost to attend.

Lively Prints & Accessories

These ladies stood out from afar.  The first thing I noticed was their twin hairdos.  You could tell they had fun with their wardrobes before leaving the house.  Between the bold prints, the accessories, and the hair—it was definitely a girls’ day out.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, play with prints and accessories until you find something that works for you.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Trying the twin hair thing with your friends every once in a while should be fun times.

Zigzag Style

I saw these pants flutter past me and I just had to have a look-see.  I like that they’re not plain old black pants.  I love how she kept the top simple because it brings out the pants that much more.  Then she did just enough accessorizing with the jewelry to finish it off.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, think about ways you can introduce some zigzag or funky prints into your wardrobe.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  There’s nothing wrong with channeling your inner zigzag so folks will stop and have a look-see.

A Basic Black Flat Shoe

Black Shoes

Shoes—Shoe Carnival

It’s a BUY ONE, GET ONE HALF-OFF SALE, folks!!

This post is strictly because I’ve only had ONE fashion post up now since I started this blog.  I’m not living up to the name of this blog very well.  It’s become more of a food blog (not that I’m complaining)—but I did warn everyone on my ‘About Me’ page that this would probably happen.

There are a few reasons the fashion department is lacking:

  • I haven’t been shopping for clothes, shoes, etc., in ages (totally unlike me)
  • I need to buy an actual camera that takes much better pictures than my cell phone is doing
  • I need to find people wearing something interesting that is worthy to snap and put onto this blog
  • I need to find an official photographer that can take pictures of me each day in my own clothes
  • I need to stop being so lazy and just do it all already

So the best I could come up with right now is a boring pair of flat black shoes.  I bought these shoes, mainly, so I could have a happy walk into work each day.  I’m a heels girl myself—the higher, the better.  But who in the world can walk miles in heels?!

When you have to walk two super long blocks from where your car is parked to where the front door of your job is located—pahleese!  I’d rather stab myself with a fork all the way there.  This is why I choose to carry my heels in a bag and walk in my flats so I can remain as happy as I’ll be for that day.  Then I change them.

So it was a Shoe Carnival buy one, get one half-off sale!!  They were the perfect fit and comfort level all the way around and it’s hard for me to find perfect black flats because there’s always something not quite right with them after I’m wearing them (too small, too big, too tight, they hurt, not comfortable, etc.).  You never really find these things out until after you’ve taken them home and worn them a few days.  By then, you can’t return them.

So since perfection was found with the first pair I bought, naturally, I went back and had them order more for me (since they were out of them by then) and I bought somewhere in the realm of between—hmmmmm, I dunno—3 to 5 pairs total (leaning more towards 5).

(Don’t judge me.  They’re gonna wear out quickly as much as I’ll wear them.)  Now if only I can pry that little circle off the front of them—not digging that too much.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, go to a buy one, get one half-off sale at Shoe Carnival or some other shoe store and find yourself the perfect pair of shoes.  Buy yourself several pairs if you love them that much like I did.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  If you walk in high heels for any distance, you ultimately end up walking like Frankenstein and have the same look he has on his face.  And there’s nothing sexy or attractive about it.  And trust me when I say I’ve seen you look that way, ladies!  Pain is too hard to hide.
