Giving Agave Nectar Some Love

Agave Nectar

I just love using agave as a sweetener.  I usually put it in hot cereals like oatmeal, but I use it in tea, too, to sweeten it up.  It’s great.

I found my ‘sometimes’ sugar substitute.  I can’t count sugar out completely, you know, try as I might.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, buy yourself some agave and give it a try if you haven’t already.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  You can use agave practically anywhere you would have used sugar for lots of things.

Danish Butter Cookies

Butter Cookies

I love this time of year when the Danish Butter Cookies appear outta nowhere.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, stock up on at least one giant container of butter cookies.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  With 20 cookies in each layer, there’s gotta be at least a bare minimum of 100 in there.

Veggie Cake Patties

Veggie Cake Patties

I’m gonna start off by saying “no, thank you” off top to these li’l patties.  These were some type of Veggie Cake Patties and Potato Salad that I got in the Whole Foods deli area.

The potato salad was A-ok.  The veggie patties—they were a hard swallow.  I tried them cold and then I tried them warmed.  They tasted a lot better warmed in the microwave, but I still would never eat them again.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, try a veggie cake patty if you dare.  Or better yet, maybe stay away from these two in particular.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Sometimes you just gotta have the right taste buds to enjoy what life can offer you.

Gouda Fries

Gouda Fries

Well, I went back to the same burger joint where I got a ‘basket’ of fries before—and by ‘basket’ I mean shopping cart.

I plopped myself right up to the bar and perused the menu—and low and behold therein lied a new menu item.  I just love when new items are put onto menus.  It gives me the opportunity to try something new.

These lovelies were called Gouda Fries made with hand-cut fries, smoked gouda, apple-wood smoked bacon, and green onions; served with chipotle aioli sauce & sweet ketchup.  Oh, my word!

So, if you have nothing else to do today, locate some place that can make you a big fat plate of gouda fries—and if not, make them yourself.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  You’ll never be able to eat just one of these fries.

A Fashion Show Adventure

Fashion Week Spring/Summer 2014

Well this was my first time being a spectator at a fashion show in person.  I have to say, it was super fun.  I went two nights in a row and saw different designers rockin’ their designs down the runway.  So awesome!

I got there early and started taking some pictures hoping to catch some interesting fashions on anyone.

Ava & Madelynn
Jackets, Dresses, Shoes—Justice

And look at these two little divas!  How adorbz are they?

The girl on the left is Ava (she’s 7 years old) and the girl on the right is her sister Madelynn (her birthday was the same day of the show and she just turned 9 years old).

I have to say—I thought I’d be snapping pictures of a lot more people in interesting outfits but these two girls had the most interesting outfits on of the evening.  Not that everyone else didn’t look nice—everyone was dressed rather well.  There just wasn’t anything spectacular, you know?  A lot of folks kind of looked similar to each other.  Nothing really stood out to me other than the girls.

Thanks for letting me take your fabulous picture, girls!

On Me:  Top—Victoria’s Secret; Tie—Men’s Wearhouse; Belt—Charlotte Russe

Another fashion spectator diva at the show was Miss Jami who was so gracious to allow me to take her picture.

Fashion Show DJ
In a league all his own.

Now THIS did catch my attention!  The DJ was groovin’ the music super loud ALL night long!  I mean—nonstop!  And he never stood still.  He was dancing all over the place in that DJ booth.  His head almost fell off.  ROCK ON, dude!

But his flowered pajama bottoms are what caught my attention.  You go, boy!  Nobody is going to tell him what he can and cannot wear!

It was a pretty full house.  The fashion show didn’t quite sell out but it was plenty full of people.

Oh, and can I just say—the MEN are divine at these shows—or at least the show I went to.  And I’m talking about the finely dressed distinguished gentlemen sitting in the audience watching the show and/or in the photographer pit taking pictures.  Suits and ties and debonair, I tell you.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, scope out the next fashion show you can possibly attend—and GO and have a good time.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  It’s always good to have an extra set of earplugs on standby in case you’re around loud music for 3 hours straight.

Pumpkin Bread From The Farmers

Pumpkin Bread

Freshly made City Market pumpkin bread.

I just love going to the City Market on Saturday mornings.  If I don’t get anything else, I’m definitely coming home with a loaf of pumpkin bread.

Those lovely Amish farmers make it fresh for me every Saturday morning and I just love them for it.

As you can tell by the pictures, I devoured the entire loaf in a matter of minutes.  I put it on the computer desk for the obvious reason of multitasking—to eat and work on the computer at the same time.

But for some reason I just couldn’t quite get that last bite down.  I had to wait a while on that one.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, get yourself a freshly made loaf of pumpkin bread from the farmers at the market on Saturday mornings.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Nothing wrong with eating an entire loaf of pumpkin bread for yourself every once in a while.

Cici's Cinnamon Rolls

Cici's Cinnamon Rolls

Cici’s Pizza Cinnamon Rolls topped with icing.

I just LOVE these cinnamon rolls.  Maybe not as much as my hometown diner’s gigantic cinnamon rolls, but there’s love there nonetheless.

Cici’s told me they stopped selling the 10-count boxes and only sell the 20-count now.  FINE BY ME!  You won’t get any complaints from this girl.  As you can see, I already started in on the box.

No need for a plate—just lift the lid and start devouring them with a fork (or your hands) while they’re still warm.  Once they start cooling, just pop them in the microwave to warm them again.  OHHHHHH, the yummmiiiinessss of it all!

So, if you have nothing else to do today, get yourself your own box of Cici’s cinnamon rolls.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  1 cinnamon roll only has:  126 calories, 4.3 grams of fat, 8 grams of sugar, and 20 grams of carbs.  So put a lot of thought into it before you decide if you really want to share any of these bad boys.
