The Girls

Barbies

Oh, look at the girls—or is it technically ‘girl’?  Although there are three Barbies here, there’s really only ONE Barbie in the world, right?  But I guess that’s neither here nor there.

I just love my high-fashion, stylish Barbies and their mirrored glass doll cases.  My favorite part of the girls—aside from the fact that they’re so gorgeous, fashionable, and look like they love to shop—is that they never seem to age!  Behold their beauty!  I mean, I’ve had these girls for several years after all and they seem frozen in time.  (There has to be something about those doll cases, I’m sure of it.)

So, if you have nothing else to do today, browse Barbie collector dolls for your enjoyment and their beauty—or at the very least get yourself a human-sized mirrored doll case for yourself to stand inside for a few years.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Mirrored doll cases seem to be the secret to staying young in life and preserving oneself as you can clearly see here.

My Comfort On A Cold Day

Breakfast

A 6″ x 5″ x 2″ Cinnamon Roll, a Five-Way Grilled Cheese Sandwich, Hash browns with cheddar cheese, and French Vanilla Cappuccinos.

Well this is going to be my comfort food for the day.  This should last me all morning for breakfast and maybe even lunch.  Thank goodness for local diners!

I refuse to leave the house because the streets are slippery, there’s snow on the ground, and mainly because it’s like 8°F outside!  I abhor this weather.  I’ll take 150ºF over this nonsense any day.

It’s a snuggle kind of day under a throw blanket on the couch with flannel pajamas and hot food and drinks while watching television and DVDs.

It’s been so cold lately that I think I’ve now seen every episode of:

  • Criminal Minds
  • CSI: Miami
  • Looney Tunes (the early cartoon years)
  • Law & Order: SVU
  • The First 48
  • Breaking Bad
  • Perry Mason (the black & white days)
  • Twilight Zone (my love for the genius Rod Serling)
  • All my peeps on the Food Network (I could stare at food all day)
  • Modern Family
  • Oh—I’m now one of those people who is deep into Scandal.  Talk about an addicting television show!  My word!  I’ve missed several episodes though and will be forced to get the DVD series, I’m sure.
  • And, of course, last night I had several different channel options to choose from to watch the new Bonnie & Clyde movie.  Who knew it’d be on so many different channels at the exact same time.  Take your pick.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, snuggle on the couch in your comfort clothing with your comfort food while watching your favorite comfort TV shows and movies.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Always make good use of cold days if staying indoors.  Warm weather will be here soon enough—no, not really, more like 4-5 months.  I CAN’T POSSIBLY WAIT THAT LONG!!!

I'll Be In The Bathroom If You Need Me

French Vanilla Cappaccinos

French Vanilla Cappuccinos

It’s so cold outside I had to get three of these lovelies from my hometown diner to take home to keep me warm.  I mean, we are in the mid-to-high teens weather-wise after all.

And at 20oz each, I’m not sure what I think I’m going to do with these by myself.  Maybe I’ll save one for tomorrow and maybe not.

But if anyone needs me, you know where I’ll be most of the night.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, grab your favorite hot drink three times over and enjoy the warm fuzzy feelings it gives you on these cold winter days.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  It really is such a nuisance to use the bathroom/loo when you have so many better things to do with your time.

Number 111 You're Up

Me

Well, today I went on my first go-see ever in life.  For those of you that don’t know, a go-see is basically a model audition.  And I did it for no other reason than just to have something to do today.  You know, to take some of the boredom out of my exciting life.

As you have seen from all my blog posts, I’m all about “So, if you have nothing else to do today, (fill in the blank here and do something—ANYTHING).”  You know—make some kind of use of your day.  And I clearly had nothing better to do today anyway.

So I readied myself at home and put on the required clothing gear—jeans, a black t-shirt, and high heels.  Then I mosied on downtown where the auditions were being held at a local hotel.

My first thought:  Oh, my God—the PARKING nightmare I’m going to encounter!  But nothing doing.  I couldn’t believe I found a free spot on the street half a block away. Go ME!

My next nightmare thought I had—the crowd of people I would encounter auditioning.  Nothing doing again.  There was hardly anyone there yet and I was 11th in line.  Phew!

First I filled out a form with my basic information on it—including my birthdate I had to write down.  And even though I’m still a young’un, I did write three different years I could have possibly been born in and then I proceeded to circle my preferred birth year.  I mean, there were no age limits for auditioning as long as you were 14 or older—but still.

I also had to sign my life away that my image could be used in advertising, promotions, on Facebook, their website, newspapers, for this, that, and the other and as many times as they wanted to use it.  Ok, whatever.

Now I just waited my turn—then 20 minutes later I hear “Number 111”.  First—one girl took my body measurements all over and wrote them down on my form, then I walked into a big room where there was a panel of 6 judges.

I handed in my form, then walked to the other side of the room where another girl proceeded to take a face shot and a full body shot of me.  Click, click.  Then I was instructed to stand at the far wall and walk towards the judging table, stop and pose, turn and walk back and do this twice.  The music started—and off I went.

All I wished for was a non-slippery floor.  I was in and out of there in 5 minutes.  It was such a quick process and took no time at all.

I was told if they decide to choose me, they would let me know sometime before Christmas.  If you’re one of the ‘chosen ones’, you are put on a roster list for the designers to pick and choose which models they want to use to model their clothing.

To tell you the truth, I didn’t really prepare myself for the audition at all and didn’t give it 100% like I should have—so I’m not really expecting a call back.  It was more just something for me to do to see what the whole process was like.  But if I do get a call back, I’ll be totally surprised because I could have done so much better if I really cared a little more.

But it was interesting, to say the least, to see how the whole process works for the first time in person for a real live audition.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, take yourself on a go-see if for no other reason than to see what it’s like.  Give it a whirl and strut your stuff.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Always be ready to give 100% of yourself no matter what you do in life.
