Pretty Feet & Future Sand Dunes

Sandals

Sandals—Express

Thinking about a future trip to the Middle East, I decided I wanted to have the perfect flat sandals to wear this time around—considering I didn’t have the best shoes last time as the weather is so warm there and they were the worst to wear for desert safari adventures.

Last time I had regular flat shoes on my feet—not sandals.  They were ok for walks through the city but I always felt like my feet wanted to be exposed to the nice warm air.

But where I did have a problem with those flat shoes—was on desert safari!  You’re totally surrounded by mounds of sand—so I soon found out my flat shoes were the worst choice for such an adventure.  The sand loaded up inside my shoes instantly—so I was constantly taking my shoes off and putting them back on to empty them.  I did it so often, I decided to just deal with the uncomfortableness of walking around with mounds of sand inside my shoes for longer periods of time.

My Summer Sleep Comfort

Tank tops & shorts

Tank tops & Shorts—Walmart

You all know the simple things in life can make me smile.  Well this happens to be one of them.  During the summer months, I just love wearing my assortment of tank tops and shorts when I go to sleep at night.  There’s nothing more comfortable.  Sometimes I will even wear these all day around the house when I have no plans and know I will be home all day.

And even more lovely is that I happened to find these at a local Walmart while strolling through.  I wasn’t shopping for clothes at all—but there they were!  And I’m a big believer that if you find something that works for you and you really love it, just get one in every color known to man.  So I went a little crazy.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, search high and low for the perfect comfortable summer pj’s for yourself and get them in lots of random colors.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  It’s always fun to accidentally happen upon something you could really use to make your life more wonderful than it already is—especially from a local Walmart of all places.

The White Dress & The Tornado

Me

Dress—Maurice’s

I just love when I can take myself shopping at the mall.  It had been a while since I’d been mall shopping so I made an entire day of it.  Not only did I need new clothes in general—but I wanted to find things to wear on my next trip overseas.

Yep, I was at the mall from mall opening until mall closing—10am-9pm (probably a man’s nightmare).  But I mean—there are so many stores there to venture inside of that it didn’t surprise me I was there that long.

One store I ventured inside of was Maurice’s where I found this cute little white dress.  I thought it was simply adorable.  It’s perfect whether I go to India for my next trip or whether I go back to the United Arab Emirates.

Mall tornado shelter

But the real fun came when there was a sudden torrential rainstorm going on outside and everyone in the mall was ushered from the stores into a tunnel-type hallway because tornado sirens were going off in the surrounding area.

No one could get a signal on their cell phones inside this narrow passageway either which was irritating.  So there was just a lot of standing around and waiting for the tornado warning to pass—while hoping an actual tornado would not hit us directly.

And although a couple of small twisters did touch down in surrounding areas, fortunately, one did not touch down directly where I was—thank goodness—or I’m sure my car would have been in the next state over when I left the mall to go home.

And since it was raining so hard when I was ready to go home, I had to wait it out so I could actually SEE to drive home because you literally could not see more than a couple of feet in front of you.  There was just no telling when the rain would die down either.

Well—more shopping for me then!

So, if you have nothing else to do today, spend an entire day from morning until evening buying yourself nice things if for no other reason than you deserve it.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Always look at the positive side when you get stuck inside a mall because of bad weather—a little more unexpected eating and shopping never hurt anybody.

A Lazy Days Good-For-Nothin’

Pajamas

Oh, my goodness.  This is just one of my favorite things to do ever—lounge around at home in my pj’s and do absolutely nothing.

Don’t you just love days like this?  Sometimes I’ll even make a whole weekend of it.  Why not?  Who’s to say I can’t?

Sometimes I’ll just lay in the bed at the opposite end with my head on a pillow and prop my feet up on the headboard and do some thinking.  Other times, I’ll chat away on the phone to a friend, read a book or a magazine, take a little nap, watch TV, or snack away on food.

The key to getting this comfort situation down properly is in the lounge-wear.  You can’t just do this particular move with jeans and sports shoes on—and, God forbid, a bra.  No, sirree.  It just won’t have the same effect.

Next, you need a large plush area in which to sit/lay.  The bigger the area, the better.  The more pillows, the better.  A queen- or king-sized bed or even a big comfy couch will do.

Last, but not least, the more food you surround yourself with—the better.  But, oh my, to do nothing all day long but ‘whatever’now that’s living the dream!

So, if you have nothing else to do today, just be a lazy good-for-nothing all day long.  It’s one of life’s greatest pleasures.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  One thing I might point out:  If you’re staring up at the ceiling while relaxing, daydreaming, chatting on the phone, or whatever you may be doing during your downtime and you happen to see what appears to be a dark “mark” up there that is definitely not the same color as your ceiling—I’d say hightail it out of bed immediately and investigate that it is, in fact, a black “mark” rather than just staring at it longingly and/or laughing with your mouth wide open and discovering that it’s a beastly bug or spider of some sort that will come hurtling down on you at any given moment.  I’m just sayin’.

Stalking That Man El DeBarge

Me

Oh, lordamercy!  My night was made.  There’s really not much to say other than I acted like a total crazy person stalking this man when he came to concert.

I don’t know if any of you have ever been on a stalking spree before, but there’s a process involved.  You, first and foremost, have to do your research.

  • Find out when the person is coming to town,
  • The hotel the person will be staying at,
  • The restaurants he’s likely to eat at while in town,
  • The cars he’ll be riding around in,
  • Someone who can give you the GPS coordinates of said car at a moment’s notice, and
  • Someone who can possibly get you front row seats along with backstage passes (namely the man himself)

Secondly, you have to make sure you look your absolute best, otherwise your chances are that much less.  What those less “chances” are is anyone’s guess though.  But dream on, I say!

El DeBarge

I’m pretty sure he was singing “Stay With Me” directly to me personally.  I mean—I don’t know who else he could have possibly been singing to when you really think about it.

I took a marriage license along in my purse on the stalking spree “just in case.”  I’m not sure how real I thought the “just in case” was going to be, but a girl can dream, can’t she?!

How I Became A Pimp

Me

It all started one day when my dad innocently put one of his pimp hats on my head.  That girl didn’t stand a chance of being the same person again ever since.

My walk changed, my strut changed, my attitude changed, my fashion sense changed.  Now you know!  It runs in the family.

Move back and give me room, people!  THERE’S NO STOPPING ME NOW!

So, if you have nothing else to do today, find pictures of yourself as a young-un and see if you still have the same fashion sense now that you had then.  See if there was a specific moment in time that made you the person you are today.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Never underestimate the power that just one accessory can have on transforming who you become in life.

Hat—Target
Tie—Men’s Wearhouse

Here I am on my way out the door to go to Fashion Week this past September and what an amazing time I had!!  I always get excited when fashion week rolls around twice a year when it does.

It’s always fun to attend the shows and it definitely always gives me yet another reason to dress up—which I absolutely love to do!

Here I had some fun with accessories I pulled from my closet.  I had no idea how the look would turn out but I made sure to give myself plenty of time to play with different accessories and different ways to wear them—until I finally had a look I was happy with.

Me

Headband—Icing by Claire’s

None of the accessories here are anything fancy or expensive and can be found and bought pretty much anywhere in your city.  So give it go!

So, if you have nothing else to do today, find a hat, a tie, and/or different accessories you can play around with to wear to the next outing you attend.  Do something a little different from what you normally would with your look and find new ways to spice it up every now and again.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Everyone should always have a go-to pimp-look that can be pulled off at a moment’s notice.  Yes, they will look and stare—but SO WHAT!  There’s a reason they are doing so—IT’S GREAT TO BE YOU!
