Colored Hair & Pink Pastels

Street Style - Women

AVERY
Student
(At a fashion show)

Zachary’s sister stood out with the green color on the tips of her hair for a bit of fun.  The neutral and subtle colors of her outfit made the green pop out in her hair.  With a pretty sheer pastel dress and the addition of a fur around the neck, she’s ready to go.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, have some fun with hair coloring or accessorize with a great fur.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  To make a tiny bit of color stand out, keep the colors around it subdued and neutral somewhat.

A Jacket Of All Trades

Street Style - Men

ZACHARY
Student/Designer
(At a fashion show)

This guy was totally prepared to be a fashion show spectator.  The funkiness of the jacket is what caught my eye.  He actually made this jacket himself.  So it’s no surprise that he got accepted into Central Saint Martins in London this coming fall!  Some of the most famous designers hail from CSM.  Kudos to him!

So, if you have nothing else to do today, make your own clothes, wear a bow tie, or give some brightly colored pants a whirl around the block.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  People take notice when you jazz up your look a bit.

Lively Prints & Accessories

JULIE & KIM
Administrative Assistant & Designer
(At a fashion show)

These ladies stood out from afar.  The first thing I noticed was their twin hairdos.  You could tell they had fun with their wardrobes before leaving the house.  Between the bold prints, the accessories, and the hair—it was definitely a girls’ day out.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, play with prints and accessories until you find something that works for you.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Trying the twin hair thing with your friends every once in a while should be fun times.

For The Love Of Plaid

Street Style - Men

DOMINIC
Social Worker
(At a fashion show)

A color combination of blue and green a lot of people may not have tried, but it worked for this guy.  He totally had the look for it.  The plaid shirt stood out and the rugged brown shoes set it off.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, get creative with a plaid print in a fun color on the top or the bottom.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Unexpected color combinations can sometimes work well together when you least expect it.

Zigzag Style

BARBARA
School Counselor
(At a fashion show)

I saw these pants flutter past me and I just had to have a look-see.  I like that they’re not plain old black pants.  I love how she kept the top simple because it brings out the pants that much more.  Then she did just enough accessorizing with the jewelry to finish it off.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, think about ways you can introduce some zigzag or funky prints into your wardrobe.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  There’s nothing wrong with channeling your inner zigzag so folks will stop and have a look-see.

Funky Blues And Florals

WALZEL
Athletic Trainer
(At a fashion show)

How funky can you get at a fashion show?  Bold?  Risky?  Awww, yeah, no one can say he’s not a risk-taker with his style.  I love to see something new and different on the humans.  Why should we all look alike all the time?

So, if you have nothing else to do today, work some blues and florals into your life.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Be bold and risky with your style every now and again and do something new and different that’s all your own.

Fun With A Scarf

Street Style - Children

CAMRYN
(At a fashion show)

What a cute blue dress with a fabulous scarf!  I just love that she even thought to toss a scarf around her neck in a stylish way.  She has a style all her own for a young one.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, try the many different ways there are to wear a scarf and/or infuse yourself with the color blue.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  If a young’un can manage to put a little style and thought into her outfit, there’s really no excuse for anyone older than she is.
