Contemplating Life

Me

Sometimes I just sit and think about life in general—about my life, about the things I’ve experienced, the things I’ve endured, the joys I’ve had, the sadness I’ve had, the people I’ve met along the way, the future people I am going to meet, and the opportunities I’ve had because of the choices I’ve made, or because of life circumstances, or being in the right place at the right time.

With the exceptions of one or two moments in time, I would not change a thing about my entire life—including all the negative, bad, and disappointing things that have befallen it—because I have learned a lot along the way.  It has shaped me into the person I’ve become.  I have become smarter and wiser because of it but I am also still learning.

Life is one big learning lesson and I love nothing more than learning new things that I know nothing about.  I love soaking up all kinds of information.  I’m like a sponge for knowledge.  I want to know and learn it all!

Where does it end?  It never does—that’s the problem.  There’s not enough time in this lifetime to learn everything about life so I do what I can with the time I’ve been given and hope for the best.  I love being a well-rounded individual.  It’s better than having a limited mind with limited knowledge and not being able to converse with people on a variety of subjects.  I’ve found the more informed I am, the more interesting life becomes.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, sit and stare for a really long period of time while contemplating your own life and how you can make it the way you want it to be while embracing the little twists and turns along the way.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Always make the most of every single minute of every single day you have been given on this earth—or even on the moon should you choose to go there.  Be as happy and informed as you possibly can be.  It’s your beautiful life to do with as you please.  Embrace it.

  1. It’s always good to pause and think through things. Like how you came away from it with such a positive attitude…way ta go girl! Seriously though, you’re an inspiration to those who wonder too much about, what if? There is no point. Take your experiences, learn and grow from them no matter how negative they may have been at times. Delight in the positive experiences and treasure them. Your experiences help shape who you are, but you’re in control of the moulding. 🙂

  2. Life for me is one big ball of knowledge, where the cycle of information is never ending.

You can learn from a bad experience, as much as you can from the good ones. In my short years, I’ve learned a person who believes they know everything, knows nothing at all. So like you, I am always learning. You can learn from your peers, your elders and those far younger. No one is above learning, yet so many in society believe otherwise. Well, it’s their loss.

I am completely appreciative of life because it can be gone in an instant. I cherish the bonds I have with people, because relationships (genuine ones), are what living is all about. Great post.

  3. Simple, yet profound truth. I have noticed that some people learn from life’s lessons, some do not, and others think they do but are actually oblivious. Just as seeds cannot grow amongst rocks or weeds, knowledge cannot be had by those unwilling to learn or unaware of their ignorance.

    1. Well said! I know SO many people that haven’t learned a thing and life is slipping right past them.

  4. There’s so little in my life that I could safely excise, given the change; it’s all tangled up with good things I couldn’t bear to part with. I suppose this says something about what a generally cheery person I am, though.

  5. I worked with the fellow who was always smiling. I asked him one day why he is always smiling and seems so joyful. He stated, that everyday he wakes up is a gift. You need to embrace every moment and today I am alive. Wow, that fellow etched something in me like no other. He was absolutely correct. You are right we all need to take a moment and smell the roses. We, as in me, ,and I can only change what life we have. We need to make the best of it. Thanks for the your post.

    1. You’re welcome! I just wish more people would do this instead of “giving up” on it and wasting so much time.

    1. Thanks, Koji. I can honestly say, no one’s ever said that to me before. And I brim quite frequently. 🙂

  6. wow–you’ve got some wisdom, girl 😉 Some folks live a lifetime without getting what you already got. Love your outlook. So true, all of it.

  7. I can absolutely relate to this; I do it all the time 🙂 I always wonder how things could have been and how they could be based on my decisions, and while I’m going through tough stuff I always think, “Why is this happening to me?” but then after a while you rearview mirror and can be proud of yourself for making it through 😀

    1. I know. Like that movie “Sliding Doors”. How your life could go one way within a split second of making a seemingly minor decision. Like riding the 10:00am bus or the 10:15am bus. Who knows where life is going to go from something so trivial. You never know what’s going to happen or who you’ll meet. And you survive it all.

  8. Absolutely true … Someone rightly said.. “Think before you speak… Read before you think” … Without knowledge and education (not simply academic) the human mind is restrained and limited .. But learning the most from
Every chance or opportunity that comes along is what shapes up thoughts and leaves imagination to no bounds…
