How Can Such Innocence Be So Terrifying?

Corner Doll

This doll has freaked out more people who have entered this home than I can count.  I even remember the day she scared the bejeezus out of some big burly firefighters at my former home.  I’ve never seen a bunch of guys jump back so far in my life before!  How tickled I was.

How does a doll this tiny scare the living daylights out of some big burly dudes that are supposed to be our super heroes?  I’ll never know.  I guess a better question would be…….why were the firefighters called out to my former home to begin with?—but that’s neither here nor there.

Needless to say, I got a good laugh out of it.  She’s such a permanent fixture in the house that I sometimes forget she’s even there.  But when a visitor happens through, it’s not long before I’m reminded once again of her presence.

Corner Doll

So, if you have nothing else to do today, get your own faceless corner doll if for no other reason than to see your friends jump back a few feet in the air.  Oh, the joys of life!

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Even super heroes get a scare every now and again and may need some hand-holding from time to time from us commoners.

  1. Lol That’s hilarious! I like dolls a lot even though they can be kind of creepy! It must be so fun to watch all those people jump and scream!
And I love the take away life lesson! It’s amazing what deep wisdom a faceless doll can bring!

  2. Oh …A faceless doll. What will they think of next…? I tried to come up with a clever answer…but I couldn’t! Lol. It is a bit creepy…but for sure a conversation starter. (It looks like she has a nice wig!)

  3. It’s like Chucky, a hideous horror character. It also depicts a sad and unkind real-life situation that adults would react to in shock from recalled fear of isolation and rejection.

  4. I’ve seen these in craft stores; I think they’re cute, not scary! Perfect for people who don’t want kids, these ‘kids’ are quiet and no trouble at all. 🙂

  5. Does she walk on her own??? Lol… but truly this can be scary and scare the living daylights out of anyone. Could even die of heart attack. I shall not get one but i can imagine how freaked my aunts would be 🙂

  6. Lol I love her, she’s adorable and reminds me of my daughter! She had to stand in the corner if she threw a tantrum on the floor – it was a great punishment, very effective and put a quick end to tantrums!

  7. I came back to read this article properly .. Cause the first time I though it was a joke ..!! It’s real ?????

  9. Dear God, just the photo itself gives me the heebee jeebees! I’ve seen them before. I’m sorry. There is something about them that are pee-down-my-leg creepy! I would not own one. Somehow, while I’m sleeping, I picture it slowly turning away from the wall, revealing a face…sorry, I think I just wet myself!

    1. Lol. Yeah, it could creep you out in the middle of the night if you had to get up and forgot she was there.

  10. *snortle* To the credit of your local superheroes, she IS rather realistic looking… they were probably wondering if you were going to give one of THEM a time-out as well… 🙂

    1. Maybe so. It was too funny. After they composed themselves and said a few “choice” words they said “What IS that thing?!”

    1. I saw it at a Strawberry Festival I went to years ago. There were a hundred tents set up at the festival selling their different wares and whatnot and I bought her because it looked so real and I had never seen such a thing!
