Rollin' On Open Highway

Highway Driving

I love an open highway.  This is right up there with being in a store all by myself—having open highway all to myself.  I can never get enough of the simple pleasures of life.  This is what you call stress free driving.

Granted, this was super early in the morning—but that’s neither here nor there.  It was such a pretty day—car music blaring, the sun was out, the skies were clear, it was beautifully warm outside.  Ahhh, my joys.

Does this mean I’m a loaner, anti-social, not a people person just because I like places and spaces to myself?  I don’t think so—but who knows?  Once again, I was out getting errands and shopping done and you know how I need to be in and out of a place and back home before the whole world wakes up and wants to join me.  Oh, the stress of just thinking about the madness that can swarm me at any moment.

Shopping done, errands done and the world is still asleep—now I can enjoy the rest of my day and weekend.  Saddle up and ride.  It’s going to be a beautiful day.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, take to the open highway at an hour when you can have it all to yourself—and just drive.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Evaluate whether you actually like people or not.

  1. Driving is indeed a stress reducer – unless you’re stuck in traffic…which is everyday here. But one day, I hope you will sit in my passenger seat. I also hope to hear you scream while digging your manicures into the roof of my car as I “pedal to the metal…” Well, maybe you’re rough and tough since you chase car thieves. Hmmm.

  2. I’m of a personality that has trouble just driving for no purpose. I credit this to the cars I had in my 20s being prone to breaking down disproportionately often if I was using them for purely recreational driving. They would break down sometimes if I was using them to get somewhere I needed to be, but, they’d break down way too often if I was just seeing what was there a half-hour past my normal spots.

  3. Everyone needs alone time. I agree there is something about being behind the wheel on the open road in the wee hours of the morning. When you get so much accomplished so early in the day it makes the rest of the day so much more satisfying. My only downfall on these rare occasions is that inevitably by early afternoon I am ready for a siesta 🙂

    1. Well, yeah, taking an hour nap never hurt anybody—and it gets you ready for the 2nd go ’round of your day. It’s all about feeling good! 🙂

  4. There isn’t anything wrong or weird, when it comes to liking alone time. I love when I enter my gym and there’s only a handful of people. I feel as if I have the entire place to myself. LoL. Enjoy that open road

  5. Love it!!! Most of my day was spent in a hospital room with my grandson (asthma).. Poor lil dude! I am so happy your day was a smooth one! ? Thanks for the imagery.. I needed it.

  6. Reminds of when my friend and I were coming home early this morning and there was nobody on the road. At first it felt eerie, but soon I felt calm. Just because you like places all to yourself doesn’t make you a loner, anti-social, or not a people person: Crowds can be draining, to anybody. Myself included. Keep doing what you’re doing! You’re fine! 😀
