If I Were Running From The Law

If I were going to run from the law, there’s probably five places I’d consider going:

  1. Mooselookmeguntic, Maine
  2. Winchester-On-The-Severn, Maryland
  3. Dalworthington Gardens, Texas
  4. Humptulips, Washington
  5. Llanfairpwllgwyngyll, Wales

Not because I think I’d have loads of fun at any of these places, but because not many souls have probably ever heard of such places!  And of those that have—who would consider looking for an outlaw in these towns?

And to all my Mooselookmeguntic, Winchester-On-The-Severn, Dalworthington Gardens, Humptulips, and Llanfairpwllgwyngyll readers—no offense.  But I just can’t imagine the cops saying, “I bet she’s headed for Mooselookmeguntic.  Let’s start the search there and if that doesn’t pan out let’s head for Humptulips because she wasn’t at any of the hot party spots in Winchester-On-The-Severn.”

If you told the cops I was probably in one of these cities, they’d probably think you were just trying to throw them off their trail—which is exactly the point!  I’ll be in one of these five cities and they won’t even consider it.

So don’t blow my cover.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, think about all the places you’d run to if the law was after your hide.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Nothing beats proper planning.

  1. I have to say this question hadn’t occurred to me before. Do you think you might soon have a reason to go on the run …?

    Did you know, by the way, that Llanfairpwllgwyngyll used to be known by the even longer name of – wait for it – Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch? Although that longer name was apparently a Victorian tourist publicity stunt. Anyway, it probably is a good place to hide – being such a difficult (and long) name to both spell and pronounce, at the very least it would slow down the police …

    1. Lol! I have no idea why I started thinking of this. Maybe I think I’m going to do something in the future??? I don’t know. Wow that name is super long. Yeah, that would definitely slow them down if not make them bypass it altogether. Lol! 🙂

  3. Haha! That is funny. I can’t even imagine how to pronounce that last one. It reminds me of that volcano a while ago though. I think the volcano had a complicated name too.

    1. I have no idea how to pronounce the last one either. Lol. I must have missed the one with the volcano with the funny name. It makes me wonder where they come up with the names in the first place.

  7. When I was a kid, I spent most of my school holidays in a port-town called Lhokseumauwe. (an uncle of mine lived there) 😀
    Many of my friends do not know how to pronounce it. LOL!

  8. Someone in California REALLY has a sense of humor. One of the places that we passed every time we went on a trip had crossroads called “Main Drain Road” and “Brown Material Road”. Use your imagination.

  10. When we were on Snee-Oosh Road in northeast Washington, we were only 201 miles from Humptulips – and that is fairly far because there aren’t many roads there! I tell ya’, sometimes it was embarrassing to tell the mailing address!

    1. Omg. That name kills me every time I see it now or say it out loud. LOL! It just sounds so funny. And Snee-Oosh—WOW! I’ve never heard that before. Lol!

  12. You do realize that you’ve completely ruined these places as workable hide-outs now. These are the first places the law will come looking for you now. Though my bet is that this post is part of a greater plan where you’re going to run somewhere else that you didn’t mention here. Am I right? 😉

    1. LOL! Too funny. You’re right. Maybe I’ll be at one of these places—and maybe I won’t. 😉 I’m sure I’ll find out soon enough if I’ve ruined them for hideouts.

  15. A good thought exercising scenario. From time to time, I think of this question too (perhaps from watching movies or reading news). I think hiding under your nose might be another alternative 🙂
