Yeah, “Curved” Brush Mascara—Right

Mascara

The two mascaras in the photo are supposed to have different brushes—just in case you’re wondering what this is all about.

The mascara on the bottom is a straight-brush mascara I’ve been using the last several weeks.  The mascara on top is a mascara I bought because the package said it was a “curved” brush.

I’ve used curved brushes in the past so I’m an expert in what a curved brush should look like.  It’s shaped similar to a “U”, to an umbrella, to a rainbow—anything along those lines.

But I fail to see the “curved” brush here!  And let’s keep in mind, I’ve twirled the top mascara 360 degrees in rotation several times over because I was SO desperate to see the curve anywhere in the brush—ANYWHERE!  I even studied it carefully under a microscope!

Why do they think this is a “curve?”  What does “curve” even mean nowadays?

So, if you have nothing else to do today, please tell me if my eyes are, in fact, deceiving me and if there actually is a curve built into the brush somewhere.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  If I were a man, my blood pressure wouldn’t be boiling now over such a thing.

Pretty Feet & Future Sand Dunes

Sandals

Sandals—Express

Thinking about a future trip to the Middle East, I decided I wanted to have the perfect flat sandals to wear this time around—considering I didn’t have the best shoes last time as the weather is so warm there and they were the worst to wear for desert safari adventures.

Last time I had regular flat shoes on my feet—not sandals.  They were ok for walks through the city but I always felt like my feet wanted to be exposed to the nice warm air.

But where I did have a problem with those flat shoes—was on desert safari!  You’re totally surrounded by mounds of sand—so I soon found out my flat shoes were the worst choice for such an adventure.  The sand loaded up inside my shoes instantly—so I was constantly taking my shoes off and putting them back on to empty them.  I did it so often, I decided to just deal with the uncomfortableness of walking around with mounds of sand inside my shoes for longer periods of time.

Taco Salad Goodness

Taco Salad

Taco Salad in a rice bowl filled with ground beef, beans, corn, rice, tomatoes, bell peppers, shredded cheddar cheese, lettuce, salsa ranch dressing, cheese sauce, salsa, & sour cream.

This is a day I decided to brave the cafeteria in my building at work for lunch.  I generally don’t like to eat there because it’s an overpriced placed and the lunch food can be sub-par.  Their breakfast is usually the only thing I will get, if anything, since it’s pretty decent—and only IF I don’t happen to bring my breakfast from home that day.

This day happened to be a Taco Tuesday so I gave lunch a whirl.  They give you the option of having a burrito made out of whatever ingredients you select or having it all put into a rice bowl.  I chose a rice bowl and selected pretty much ALL the ingredients.  Let’s get real.

It turned out to be a rather good lunch if I don’t say so myself.  But usually I’m the type of girl who would rather make and bring her lunch from home.  It always turns out to be so much less expensive that way and most often tastes better.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, dump all these ingredients inside a tortilla and/or a rice bowl, if, for no other reason than to put a huge smile on your face.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  The work cafeteria can amazingly sometimes surprise you with some tasty options when you least expect it—the rare occasion it may be.

This Chicken Ranch Wrap Here

Chicken Ranch Wrap

Ranch Wrap with fried chicken, avocado, bacon, tomato, Jack & cheddar cheese, lettuce, ranch dressing, & wrapped inside a garlic-herb tortilla.

I can’t say enough about this sandwich wrap.  I’m in love with it.  I already had this in another blog post way back yonder—but it’s so good that I had to bring it back.

There’s just a perfect combination of all ingredients inside of it—except I always like a little extra ranch dressing with mine.  The yum factor is out of this world—or at least it is to me anyway.  I’m sure there are those who would think this an average sandwich—but I devour this thing within mere seconds.

Again, I got this from one of my hometown diners.  Where else do I go anyway?

So, if you have nothing else to do today, I say you should make yourself a sandwich wrap like this to fall in love with—or better yet, frequent a local delicious diner for one of these bad boys.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Those hometown diners can be amazing second homes when you find the perfect one just for you.

My Summer Sleep Comfort

Tank tops & shorts

Tank tops & Shorts—Walmart

You all know the simple things in life can make me smile.  Well this happens to be one of them.  During the summer months, I just love wearing my assortment of tank tops and shorts when I go to sleep at night.  There’s nothing more comfortable.  Sometimes I will even wear these all day around the house when I have no plans and know I will be home all day.

And even more lovely is that I happened to find these at a local Walmart while strolling through.  I wasn’t shopping for clothes at all—but there they were!  And I’m a big believer that if you find something that works for you and you really love it, just get one in every color known to man.  So I went a little crazy.

So, if you have nothing else to do today, search high and low for the perfect comfortable summer pj’s for yourself and get them in lots of random colors.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  It’s always fun to accidentally happen upon something you could really use to make your life more wonderful than it already is—especially from a local Walmart of all places.

The White Dress & The Tornado

Me

Dress—Maurice’s

I just love when I can take myself shopping at the mall.  It had been a while since I’d been mall shopping so I made an entire day of it.  Not only did I need new clothes in general—but I wanted to find things to wear on my next trip overseas.

Yep, I was at the mall from mall opening until mall closing—10am-9pm (probably a man’s nightmare).  But I mean—there are so many stores there to venture inside of that it didn’t surprise me I was there that long.

One store I ventured inside of was Maurice’s where I found this cute little white dress.  I thought it was simply adorable.  It’s perfect whether I go to India for my next trip or whether I go back to the United Arab Emirates.

Mall tornado shelter

But the real fun came when there was a sudden torrential rainstorm going on outside and everyone in the mall was ushered from the stores into a tunnel-type hallway because tornado sirens were going off in the surrounding area.

No one could get a signal on their cell phones inside this narrow passageway either which was irritating.  So there was just a lot of standing around and waiting for the tornado warning to pass—while hoping an actual tornado would not hit us directly.

And although a couple of small twisters did touch down in surrounding areas, fortunately, one did not touch down directly where I was—thank goodness—or I’m sure my car would have been in the next state over when I left the mall to go home.

And since it was raining so hard when I was ready to go home, I had to wait it out so I could actually SEE to drive home because you literally could not see more than a couple of feet in front of you.  There was just no telling when the rain would die down either.

Well—more shopping for me then!

So, if you have nothing else to do today, spend an entire day from morning until evening buying yourself nice things if for no other reason than you deserve it.

Take-Away Life Lesson:  Always look at the positive side when you get stuck inside a mall because of bad weather—a little more unexpected eating and shopping never hurt anybody.

Casino Buffet Eating

Casino buffet plate

Fried chicken, cream corn, baked beans, mashed potatoes, macaroni & cheese, and baked potato chips.

So here’s yet another buffet I love going to.  It’s at one of the riverboat casinos in my area.  All of the casinos have buffets and I’ve tried them all.  You know me!  But this one just happens to be my favorite—and it has a massive buffet, too!  There’s so much food you have to get one plate after another.

There are several food stations broken down into several different lovely areas:

  • Chinese food station
  • Barbecue food station
  • American food station
  • Italian food station
  • Salad, soup, & bread station
  • Dessert station

What’s a girl to do when confronted with all these options?  By jove, I’ll tell you!  Just get one of everything!  After all, that’s the fun of eating at buffets.
