Sandals—Express
Thinking about a future trip to the Middle East, I decided I wanted to have the perfect flat sandals to wear this time around—considering I didn’t have the best shoes last time as the weather is so warm there and they were the worst to wear for desert safari adventures.
Last time I had regular flat shoes on my feet—not sandals. They were ok for walks through the city but I always felt like my feet wanted to be exposed to the nice warm air.
But where I did have a problem with those flat shoes—was on desert safari! You’re totally surrounded by mounds of sand—so I soon found out my flat shoes were the worst choice for such an adventure. The sand loaded up inside my shoes instantly—so I was constantly taking my shoes off and putting them back on to empty them. I did it so often, I decided to just deal with the uncomfortableness of walking around with mounds of sand inside my shoes for longer periods of time.

Now that I’ve learned my lesson, I thought I’d get a head start searching for the perfect flat sandals to take with me this time during the sandal-selling seasonal months this past summer. But it wasn’t as easy as I thought it’d be. Even after all the searching online and inside mall stores, there was nothing that even came close to appealing to me.
After three months of fruitless searching for even ONE pair I would like that would be perfect, I happened upon the Express store’s website. And wouldn’t you know! There were loads of flat sandals that I loved! So much so that I couldn’t make up my mind which ones to get—so what did I do? I applied my rule of thumb as I do when I have this same problem choosing food from a menu—just get one of each and stop thinking about it.
As you can see, I’m now pretty well stocked with the proper shoes for my trip to the far east and the joys of the sand dunes.
So, if you have nothing else to do today, put some thought into your footwear before you go out and about among desert sands in the far east. Think about really high-top moon boots or open flat sandals.
Take-Away Life Lesson: Never venture out on a trek in the sand dunes of a desert safari without the proper footwear. Otherwise, you’ll come to regret it pretty quickly. Mark my words.

Yeah, on my side of the world it’s fall but the weather is still back and forth between cool and hot here. But I mainly bought these for a future trip on the other side of the world where it stays pretty hot all year round. But, yeah, I’m ready to break out some cute boots, too! 😉 (Btw, do you have a blog? I can’t remember if I’ve seen it before or not. I grew up in Los Vegas, no sand dunes per se but LOTS of desert and actually the best shoes are over the ankle, laced up, with socks but as you say…hot, hot, hot. (and NoT Pretty) Love the look and have loads of fun! dru
Yeah you really don’t want the sand in your shoes at all. But shoes like that can be hot when you’re already in a desert. But they would have been better than what I had on.
I have such a bad fear of feet, all these sandals are my worst nightmare! (In fact Summer in general is quite tricky. I have to mentally move to Antarctica for a few months to escape open toe shoes.) But the travelling element sounds like great fun, I’m such an overpacker. xo
