Made with sliced smoked turkey sausage, chicken stock, red beans, canola oil, chopped onion, celery, green bell pepper, minced garlic cloves, dried thyme, dry rub (made of sugar, paprika, onion powder, salt & pepper), bay leaves, and salt & pepper; served over long grain brown rice.
I’ve never loved beans and rice so much in my life!!! This was SO good. I think the sausage is what really set it off.
So, if you have nothing else to do today, keep yourself occupied with a fabulous dish of red beans and rice.
Take-Away Life Lesson: Smoked sausage can do wonders for red beans and rice and make it a lovely hearty dish.
I have a version of this from the Food Network too. But I don’t like beans that much (learning to eat them) so I make it with garbanzo beans and kidney beans. It also has cummin in it. And no celery – don’t like that either. Whoa! The recipe I use doesn’t need hours of cooking. I am having it for dinner right now! If you want a quick recipe, check it out on my blog. 😉
Thanks!
This looks delish! Like xbox said, in NOLA, most restaurants serve red beans and rice on Mondays as plate lunches. Def makes Mondays a little happier. Can’t wait to try it!
Great!
I lived in Louisiana for about 7 years so I love this stuff. I have never tried the turkey sausage but it does sound good that way !
It certainly was. 🙂 Thanks.
I am truly enjoying your style of cooking!! You prepare foods much in the way of my family. I make red bean and rice for my mother at least once a week!!
Ooooo, that’s fabulous. You can never go wrong with beans and rice.
agreed–this is a classic dish. With that smoke wafting from your pan, I can almost smell it from here! Yum 🙂
I was wondering if anyone would notice the wafting. Ah, the smell that permeated. 🙂
My Mum has made me a red bean curry and rice today! What a coincidence!
Great minds think alike. 🙂
