Sooooooo, I hate when a really good thing comes along just as a teaser only to leave again for a really long time. I remember the first time I tried this succulent burger. It was the best thing ever from a fast food drive-thru! The Hardee’s 1/3 lb Southwest Patty Melt Thickburger.
As I was circling the Hardee’s building making my way to the drive-thru, there it was—a huge poster for the “NEW” burger on ‘promotion’. It was a combination of the name, picture, and description that sucked me in. Listen to this—a charbroiled beef patty with sliced jalepeños, grilled onions, pepperjack cheese, and spicy Santa Fe sauce on grilled sourdough bread. See what I mean?
So I forked over the money and, OMG, the combination of everything just made it so melt-in-your-mouth good!
But what is the purpose of having a ‘promotion’ for a few weeks (8 weeks tops if we’re lucky) just to have it go away even when it’s doing really well? And I know it was doing really well because I ordered this very burger at the drive-thru every day for each of those weeks it was on ‘promotion’.
So I asked the general manager what was up with the part-time burger. He said they usually only sell it once a year on ‘promotion’ and that’s it. WHAT!! So the best thing on your menu EVER in life is the one thing that only comes around once per year? Yeah, that makes sense. I can definitely name some items that deserve to be taken off the menu instead of this one. You’re SO losing a customer after this is gone, buddy.
So, if you have nothing else to do today, go convince the Hardee’s Food Systems to bring this burger back as a permanent menu fixture.
